sim-cardsSim Swap Detection

MAD monitors changes to the device's SIM card to identify indications of SIM Swap attacks, a type of fraud in which criminals, usually through social engineering or compromising processes with carriers, transfer the victim's phone number to a new chip under their control. This type of attack enables interception of calls, SMS messages, and multi-factor authentication codes, allowing account takeover and perpetration of fraud.

Technical Mechanism: MAD tracks SIM card identifiers and mobile carrier information, such as ICCID, IMSI, MCC/MNC and other network data. When a suspicious change is detected, such as swapping the chip while keeping the same phone number or a recent SIM change at a sensitive moment in the session, the event is reported to the Command Center, enabling immediate response, such as crashing the application, to prevent fraud and account takeover.
